My fiance and I are both citizens and residents of CA (he has dual citizenship). We are planning to get married in Austria in July 2015 because half of his family is there. I have conducted research as to what a US citizen would need as documentation for the Austrian marriage to be valid and recognized in the US. With that said, after the wedding in Austria, we will have an Austrian marriage license that will undergo a process to become valid and recognized here in the US when we return. If we were to have a small civil ceremony here in CA for my side of the family, would that be an issue? Given that after the Californian ceremony, we would have a US/CA marriage license as well as an Austrian marriage license. I suppose I am just wondering if there would be any issue/conflict having two marriage licenses. I'm wondering if i should still have two ceremonies. Any assistance in clarifying this would be appreciated. Thanks.
