My question involves landlord-tenant law in the State of: Indiana
I know I'm waiting until last minute, but with school and work I never had time to take this seriously. Lived in an apartment building, they were built quickly for college kids. (The Grove, multiple locations in America)
Anyways when it was cold out, had moisture coming in a huge spot in my room, could feel the wetness. Turned black and green. Long story short, first time they came to check on it (a week after I reported it TWICE) they came in and said it was because the "heating was on the outside of my window and they were out of fluids and were waiting for the company to order it for them" (not my fault?)
Anyways it kept getting worse and worse (have pictures) and when they finally came in to fix it the first guy comes in and says "we need to cut that out and replace it, that looks bad" and the guy comes up behind him and says "nah it's not so bad, spray it with some solution and repaint it and it'll be fine", which is what they did. Wet spot still showing. I'm almost positive it was black mold as of the color AND I had most of the symptoms of it (I'm not sure if a year after if it would still be in my system to get tested), but in any case, I still have the emails where they put the fix as "other-wet carpet" instead of mold. I saved them for this reason. And when I asked for the details of all of my calls to show their negligence after I moved out they said "they couldn't send them" as if to hide something
The Grove has another location in America that had mold problems and can be searched on google to find that.
Questions are-
What kind of lawyer do I try to find?
What is my case, can I get them for hiding and negligence?
If they haven't already replaced that wall, can they maybe go in and have the inside tested? I'd assume it still has mold on the inside since they didn't replace it?
A year later, can I still have black mold in my system if that's what it is?
Who do I contact next?
Thank you
