My question involves a driver's license issued by the State of: Maryland
My husband was ticketed for speeding in May 2013. His license was suspended for failure to pay the ticket. Shortly after receiving notice of suspension, the ticket was paid. We paid online through the MD District Court citation payment. We took the receipt of payment to the MVA to get the suspension lifted. They supposedly lifted the transaction and said everything was good. Fast forward to 2014. He was pulled over in his work vehicle for making an illegal left turn and the cop says that his license is suspended. He try to explain that it was taken care of but the cop threatened to take him to jail before giving him a ticket for the illegal turn and a warning for the suspension. His job says that he can't drive his company vehicle until everything is taken care of and, also, he's been told to take vacation days to straighten things out. We went to the District Court to get a duplicate receipt (it's been a year and we can't find the other one) and they claim to have no record of the ticket being paid. They give us the number to the online citation site so we call them. They have a record of it being paid and the authorization number. We also have our bank statement corresponding with the date the online citation site gave us. The District Court says they can't do anything because it didn't show up in their system. She suggested we either pay them at the window in cash and take the receipt to the MVA and get a refund from the website or go to the MVA and see what we can do about getting it lifted. The MVA says they have to receive a receipt from the District Court. We don't know what to do now. We can't afford to pay it again and just wait around for a refund, especially when we did everything we were told to do a year ago. He now has to take another day off from work to try and get this rectified.
