My question involves defamation in the state of: NY
Is opinion, based on true facts, actionable?
A judge at a competition awards someone 1st prize, but does not disclose that he has a personal relationship with the awardee, and therefore a conflict of interest. If i send a letter to the organizers of the competition providing proof of this personal relationship which is public information, and accuse that judge of "unethical behavior", can this be considered libel? Two different people may have a difference of opinion about whether such behavior is unethical or not, but that there was an undisclosed conflict of interest is fact.
