My question involves adoption law for the State of: New Jersey
I'm Active Army stationed in Fort Sill, OK. My fiance lives in New Jersey with her 4 month old daughter, the biological father gave consent to us to give up his rights, not sure of his reasons but he said I could adopt her and he would sign the consent and get it notarized. I'm curious if that is the right process on how this works and if not what is? We are getting married in February and she will be moving here, any help is appreciated. I also want to know if this process is possible without a lawyer or is that required?
