Principle of Publicity

jeudi 8 janvier 2015

Hi.

I am an Spanish lawyer looking for the correct term for a legal translation Spanish-English, and would appreciate your expert opinion on it.

The Spanish Association of Public Registrars offers a description of the procedural and substantive aspects of the Principle of Publicity. After some divisions and considerations, the "Principle of Registered Public Faith" is described as a "presumption that what is published in the Registry is accurate and intact".

I am sure that you have an equal (or very similar) principle there in the UK, but the translation in Spanish, which includes the term "faith", seems somewhat awkward and misleading.

You can see the text by yourselves in the following URL (after "A Positive Dimension:"):

Please, could you tell me the adequate expression in English?

Best regards.
