My question involves landlord-tenant law in the State of: California
Interesting situation...
Tenants are renting a building that was under a trust. The individuals who were on the trust both died recently and it appears, based on some googling, that the kids, as survivors, inherited the property. However this property in particular doesn't come up under any search for the trust.
The tenants have moved but still have some lingering business/loose ends that they arranged to deal with involving the landlord but they have no idea who that would be since the original landlord/trust owner died during their lease. The agents/property managers always keep the landlord information and secret (it required quite a bit of sleuthing to figure out who controlled the trust in the first place).
Let's say the tenant needs to make a request regarding their deposit or something. How do they figure out who they make it to? Can they make such a request directly to a trust? How do they figure out the trust status of the owner dies?
It's a complex situation but I'm hoping the answer is as simple as accessing some resource.
