My question involves criminal law for the state of: Florida
I was wondering what ways there are to get removed from having to register as a Sex Offender. Also does being removed from registration in one states mean you also have to get removal from other states?
My story...
I was young and dumb and did something stupid and in the military at the time. While looking at porn one day, I got curious and clicked on a certain link. When the link open, I was confronted with a page full of pictures of Child Porn. I looked at them for a bit and then click on one of the pictures and was instantly bombarded with pop ups of other pages filled with Child Porn. I then closed all the pages and logged off and left. 2 days later I was told the CID was looking into me for Child Porn. When confronted by them, I immediately told them the truth about what happened and everything I did. I got scared and wondered if anything was wrong with me. I decided to get a psych eval and my defense lawyer thought it was a good idea. The psych eval concluded that I was not a predator or pedophile, but instead was sexually insecure and not sure of my sexual orientation. It took about a year and half before I ended up in court. I plead guilty under the charges of viewing child porno, disobeying a direct order, and petty theft. I received as punishment, reduction of rank to E1, 3/4 reduction of pay, 10 month confinement, and a bad conduct discharge. I ended up only doing 7 months confinement after good behavior and also got 1 month reduction of sentence. I then left the military and stayed a short time in Virginia, before my family moved to Florida. I did not want to put any pressure on my family and cause them any issues due to me having to register as a sex offender while I was living with them. I attempted to start my life fresh again, but found it very very difficult as a registered sex offender. Since I have dual citizenship, I decided to move back the Germany and start fresh there. Its been now 7 years since I left the military. I still live in Germany and have a great job as an Aircraft Engineer. I have not gotten into any legal trouble since that incident. I would love to be able to come back home and be with my family again. I haven't seen them in 4 years since they last visited me. I have not been back to the states in 7 years and would really love to come back, but I find it very difficult with the sex offender registration. This is why I would like to be removed from registration. Is there any possibility that I could come back home and not have to register any more?
