My question involves traffic court in L.A. County, California
I had a court appearance for an infraction, and was one of 4 or 5 people whose officers did not show up. We appeared together before the judge (pro tem) and our cases were dismissed. The bailiff instructed us that there is absolutely nothing else we need to do besides exit the courtroom. In fact, he proposed that we get the heck outta there, since if the officer did show up and we were still in the courtroom the judge could have proceeded with the case. So we all left.
I've checked my case status at the lacourt.org site and it still says "court". It's been 8 days, I thought it would say "dismissed".
Is this a cause for concern? Is there a straightforward way to confirm the dismissal and obtain it in writing?
I don't want a bench warrant or Failure To Appear due to a bureaucratic glitch. Even if all is well, we keep receipts of cable bills, it seems odd I wouldn't have written proof of a court decision.
