My question involves a traffic ticket from the state of: Massachusetts
Okay, so let me give you the background information first. I'm 25 (26 in 3 weeks). I "have" a car, but it's registered under my boyfriend's name. It's my primary vehicle and I'm the only one who uses it, but it's still under his name. He's 38 and as far as I know, he as a clean record. I do have one vehicle under my name, a motorcycle.
I got issues a citation today for speeding in the car. And I have a few questions...
1. Who will it affect?
- I assume that it'll affect me and my payment on my motorcycle and not affect my boyfriend at all. Is this correct? If so, will he be notified anyway?
2. Will the insurance go up?
- I had always assumed that it would go up automatically, but someone told me that it may not increase (or may increase only slightly) if you're over 25. However, since I AM 25, I'm not sure where I fall on that issue...if it's true at all.
I've received two speeding tickets in the past (I knooow, I know, that's bad...everyone has their problems -- this is mine), but I fought them both and won them both. Should I try to fight this one? I could have a chance to keep my record clean, but god I don't want to go back there again...
