My question involves vehicle registration or title in the state of: VA
My husband and I just bought a new car and gave in our older vehicle as trade in to the dealership. We were asked by the dealership to give them an unsigned title for the vehicle we traded in. This sounded a bit fishy to us so we did a bit of research. It seems like VA requires that we sign off the title to the new owner and have the new owner transfer the title to their name (http://ift.tt/1x3RalH). We mentioned this to the dealership and they still insist on getting an unsigned title from us. Is this common with trade ins? I haven't found any threads that specifically address this question. Any thoughts on what our recourse could be in this situation? Thanks!
