My question involves a traffic ticket from the state of: TEXAS
I was pulled over clocked 61 in a 45 (apparently). Small town cop had set up his vehicle on the opposite side of the road (one lane each direction), shooting radar at vehicles that had just left the small town and were accelerating through a corridor of increasing speed limits. I have traveled through the area before and honest to god thought I was in the 60 mph section (the next section was 75 mph). I was WELL beyond the town and the only car on the road, in the afternoon. When he pulled me over I was hundreds of feet beyond the apparently 60 mph sign, according to the cop himself. I cannot believe they would set up a speed trap for cars leaving the town rather than slowing down into it. He turned around and promptly parked in his trap position again before I could even collect myself to drive off.
I haven't had a citation in 10 years (and I've only had one in my life) and recently took a defensive driving course for insurance purposes. What can I argue in court? Something tells me a small town just wants to screw me regardless. It's highly upsetting given my financial situation as a disabled veteran (happy Veterans day to me, right?) and a full time student commuting over 100 miles a day. This is something I cannot afford at all. :upset: Any advice is deeply appreciated.
