Hello, I've been on ssi for 2 decades for depression and homebound. I receive 1 disability and 1 survivor check each month. I haven't taken meds or been to a therapist in 15 years or so. I'd like to terminate my benefits for personal reasons. I have a representative payee, my parent. I live at home with my parent. 4 years ago my father died and we filed a survivor claim and it was approved retroactively. i received a 5 figure one time lump sum payment. it's in a bank account i can't access, my representative payee's. Will i be able to keep the 5 figure one lump sum when my benefits are terminated? Will the SSA be upset I haven't been to a therapist or taken meds? Would I have to repay some of the monthly checks because I haven't seen a therapist? Would I be prosecuted for getting monthly checks and not going to a therapist and taken any meds?
