Modification of Custody: No Support Order

jeudi 19 mars 2015

My question involves a child custody case from the State of: NH

After a very bitter divorce and custody battle that has been going on since Nov 2012, I have an opportunity to settle with my ex. Without getting into details there is an issue of her abusing prescription drugs. The GAL's opinion is that she is getting help and hasn't been a danger to our son. She also has acquired a few theft charges related to her drug abuse. The settlement proposal basically gives us an even 50/50 split of parenting time. Essentially, everything is split right down the middle and no support order is being sought from either of us.

Family courts seem heavily weighted in the direction of mothers. Would most men consider no child support order a major 'win' in a case? Honestly, I feel nobody 'wins' in family court as it just is a messy thing all the way around.

I am still concerned she may be using prescription narcotics and I am hopeful that her using doesn't effect my son....but the GAL didn't seem as concerned as my son is doing very well in school and is showing no signs of issues caused by his mother.

Does this settlement seem fair, good, or a bad decision? Avoiding the expense of trial is also a huge factor as this has been going on for a long, long, time. Thank you for your comments.
