Property Rights: Ex Discarded Personal Belongings, (Resulting in Them Being Stolen)

My question involves a relationship in the state of: California

A friend of mine recently had an issue with her boyfriend that involved the voluntary destruction of personal property. She was staying with him for a short period of time, during which they fought at a public place towards the end of her stay. All of her belongings ($1000 worth of clothes, jewelry and personal items) were in his apartment at the time of the public dispute. It escalated and he left her where they were (it is still unclear where he went, but he left, and failed to answer her phone calls) and she was forced to call a friend to pick her up, as she had no other means of transportation. A few hours later she attempted to retrieve her property from his apartment and discovered he had THROWN ALL OF THEM OUT A SECOND STORY WINDOW and most of the items were stolen from his front yard, including her jewelry and several hundred dollars worth of cosmetics (she is a makeup artist by trade, so that product is her livelihood.) Does she have any legal recourse? This was a deliberately destructive choice on his part, resulting in the loss of personal property. Please advise. Thank you.
