Retail Fraud / Shoplifting: Civil Demand Received, But I Didn't Shoplift or Steal

dimanche 15 mars 2015

My question involves criminal law for the state of: Texas

I used to work in a store that used cards and discounts, and from time to time I was stupid enough to let my friends use it. This wasn't a lot of times, and I paid a restitution in the store. I resigned my position, and the woman who interrogated me told me I was basically done with the store, and that I was banned from that store for a year. She also tried to accuse me of marking down the prices of movies to steal, I stood by my story that the prices were on the front and I simply complied to changing it to the actual price. She made me write what I said. I recently received a civil demand in the mail, tried calling the store, and the manager told me to come in first thing tomorrow morning. Came in the store to ask for the number of the woman who interrogated me, they claimed they didn't know her contact information and told me to call the toll number on the letter. I called and it from two different phones and it doesn't work. I do not think I am entitled to pay for this civil demand, but I have no one to talk to about it. Any help would be appreciated, thank you.
