My question involves criminal law for the state of: Ohio
I drove to Walmart and ended up stealing about $60 worth of items. When I exited the store the beeper went off but I wasn't stopped, however an employee did follow me outside and attempt to see which car I got into. However when I noticed him there I stopped going to my car and ended up just walking out of the parking lot. I later had a friend drive me back to my car about 45 minutes later. i'm wondering what the chances are of the store checking the cameras to see me leaving my car and going into the store. If they do would I be able to deny that I've stolen anything? If there isn't a physical item that they can find, and they can't tell which item I stole from the store, then how would they know the value of the merchandise I stole? And if they can't determine a value then how will they be able to persecute me?
