My question involves landlord-tenant law in the State of: Virginia (fairfax county)
We live in a commercial apt complex and are moving out this weekend. We were told by the landlord that the place neds to be professionally cleaned and carpet cleaned which I don't mind forking over the $175 to do it. My only issue for paying this is that the leasing office told us that they are renovating our apt when we move out. This seems very unethical to charge someone to professionally clean the place when they are going to renovate the place after we move out...
in the lease, it does state we need to apartment cleaned and carpets shampoo'd professionally and returned in teh condition it was given to use. I dont mind vaccuming and wiping things down but why do I need to professionally clean it when they are going to gut the place?
