Hiring: Job Offer Rescinded

My question involves labor and employment law for the state of: California

Job Offer Rescinded after I’ve resigned from my current position.

I interview with a company through an employee referral and was given an offer letter by the company. There was some back and forth negotiations between us initially but everything was decided at this time. An offer letter had an accept by date and start date indicated. I resigned from my current company, I sent back the signed offer letter by the accept date and this was acknowledge by the company. I then needed to have the start date move back by 2 days for financial reasons and reach out to the hiring manager at the new company and explain my situation verbally. The hiring manager was ok with moving back the start date by the 2 days and I did a follow-up email to the hiring manager to confirm our discussion.

Now I get an email from the company saying they rescind the job offer and I quote “we believe these communications indicate that you may not truly be ready to change employment at this time. They also indicate that you may not be sufficiently thoughtful before making a decision which creates a serious concern”.

My current employer has already filled my position so I’m out of a job now. Do I have any recourse or what are my options?
