My question involves a driver's license issued by the State of: NY
Back in December, I had my auto insurance policy rewritten. It turned out that the least expensive option was to rewrite with the same company, so that's what I did.
Flash forward to January: I get a letter from the DMV claiming that I had not had insurance since the date my policy was rewritten. I called my insurance company to make sure that wasn't the case and that I had, in fact maintained coverage, which they confirmed I had. So I called the DMV. Basically, they had received a cancelation notice from my old policy the same day as the new policy started and their system had read it as me having no insurance. She told me what they needed my ins company to do. Come Monday, I called the ins company and spoke to correct department to send the needed documentation to the DMV, which they did. So all seemed well.
Flash Forward to this past Friday, When I get my mail to see another letter from the DMV, this time stating that my license is suspended, effective 3/19. So I call my Insurance company. I still have insurance and have had it continuously, so they're going to resubmit the info to the DMV and call me on Monday. She seems to think everything will be fine. On Saturday, I received a notification from my employer that they will be docking my pay $7 every week because of the suspension. Also, because my particular position requires a valid license at all times, I could potentially be fired.
Finally, NY charges $8 daily, per vehicle that you're uninsured. I have 3 cars, so going back to December 15th, NYS claims I owe them approx. $2112, when I have done nothing wrong.
Is there anything I can/should do other than what I already have?
