Federal Taxes: Acceptable Cash Receipts

I purchase items for resale on Craigslist and at Yard Sales. Some purchases are fairly large. I ask each seller to sign a receipt. The receipt indicates the item, serial number, address, amount purchased for, the date and is signed by the seller. Would this be considered a valid receipt or acceptable cash receipt by the IRS?
