Traffic Accidents: Does My Lawyer Take One Third of My Lost Wages

mardi 2 décembre 2014

My question involves an injury that occurred in the state of: Delaware.

I was in a car accident and I am working with a lawyer to obtain a settlement from the at-fault driver's insurance. I signed a contingency fee agreement, stating that their fee will be one third of the settlement.

I also filed a lost wages claim against my own PIP insurance from time I missed at work directly following my accident. (I have since returned to work). I was told this is separate from the settlement and could be paid within the next month. My lawyer filed this claim for me. Is he going to take one-third of this payment as well?

I intend to ask him once his office opens in the morning. Just wondering if anyone knew...
