Speeding Tickets: Speeding in School Zone Outside of Posted Time

jeudi 2 octobre 2014

My question involves a traffic ticket from the state of: Virginia

Hello! I have probably waited too long to post this as my court date is tomorrow but any last minute help would be appreciated.

Here is what happened:

  • Finals week at school

  • Left school early after my last test

  • Took a right hand turn out of the school

  • Got pulled over for going over 25 in a school zone

  • Normal speed limit is 45, I was going under 45

As I turned out of the school zone I was not able to see any of the flashing lights indicating it was currently a school zone.

I did however pass a sign stating the times at which the road was a school zone - 2:14-4:15

I was passing through BEFORE the stated time and this is reflected on my ticket.

Do I have a case? The flashing lights were not visible via the route I took and the only sign that was visible said the road was currently not at school zone speed.

Here is an image of what happened. The Yellow line represents the route I took. Red boxes are the flashing lights with arrows pointing the direction they face. Blue box is the sign that said 25 MPH M-F from 2:14-4:15. Green circle is where I was pulled over.

Thanks!

Edit: This is the law on the ticket: http://ift.tt/1uEyXvb
