Breaking Up: Recovery of Property at Ex Girlfriend's House

My question involves a relationship in the state of: Maryland

Hello, I have a question regarding how to recover belongings and personal items that are still at my ex's house after she threw me out along with a large portion of my things while I was at work. We lived together and I paid her down payment and I split the mortgage with her for about a year.

I have about $2,000 - $3,000 worth of property that I have not been able to get out of my ex's house since we broke up about 3/4 months ago. The property includes furniture, a refridgerator, tools, electronics, clothes, etc. I have been to the house multiple times, sometimes with a police escort, but they always tell me there is nothing I can do, and I would have to take her to court to get these items back. I have bank records for everything that was purcased and receipts for some of the items.. I checked with Maryland Small Claims Court and on the website it says I can only file a suit for money owed, not returning of property. My ex has been very difficult to deal with and on several occasions we have had dates set up for me to recover my items, only for her to cancel on me at the last minute and make up some lame excuse. What are my options? I am not willing to let these things go. I used my hard earned money to pay for them. Please help!
